The Course

Incident management teams find themselves in high-pressure situations. Those who make decisions in these situations receive a lot of information over a short period. They are responsible for assessing this information and taking appropriate actions based on what they know or reasonably believe at the time.

Decision makers need the support of an appropriately trained and skilled loggist who can accurately record the information, decisions and actions taken.

The loggist is a crucial role in any incident management team and this course will provide the skills and knowledge to ensure those taking on this role are equipped to confidently carry out their tasks and support those in decision making positions.

Delivery and Content

This four-hour interactive course can be delivered online or on site at a location of your choice. Alternatively we can arrange a convenient location and manage the event and delegate booking arrangements on your behalf.

The course will cover:

• Situations that might require logs to be maintained
• The role and characteristics of an effective decision loggist
• The skills, knowledge and behaviours required to be a confident loggist
• The importance of logging and the consequences of not logging decisions
• How to maintain a log
• Supporting justifiable decision making
• Actions to take after the event to secure the log
• New for 2021 – logging remotely

The course will include taught sessions, group exercises and the opportunity to practice the skills learned on the course. A quiz is offered at the end of the course to validate delegates’ learning.

The course will be tailored to your organisation, using log sheets based on notable practice or your own organisation’s log templates.

There are no pre-requisites for this training course and participants will receive a certificate of completion.
